SUPERFAN

On Sundays, my house is sometimes overrun by cyclists. They race, crash, and then suffer on my television, cheered on by fans on my couch. Sometimes those fans also stand along the course. And then I watch on TV to see if I can spot my supporters. ‘There we were, mom!’

Honestly, I don’t know much about it, but Willem does. He’s a superfan. Ever since he was 2 years old. At home, there are photos of Willem as a toddler cheering on the cyclists with a little flag on the Kwaremont. He would love to become a cyclist himself, but for now, he sticks to cheering for his heroes Wout Van Aert, Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel, and the amazing Lotte Kopecky.

Are you also a cycling fan? Who is your top favorite?
