Always Wanted to Learn How to Knit?

Three black fish in different sizes with white spots on their bodies.

Step 1: Casting On

Watch the video a few times and feel free to pause to practice along. Cast on 20 stitches this way with knitting needles size 4 or 5 and matching yarn. Succeeded after a few tries? Great! Now go to step 2

Step 2: Stockinette Stitch

This is the core of knitting: stockinette stitch or knit and purl. The first few times it won’t work or barely โ€“ and that’s completely normal.
Put your work aside and try again the next day, and the days after that. Meanwhile, think about the beautiful scarves and sweaters you want to make later.
Keep going!

Have you knitted about 15 cm? Well done! You can move on to step 3.

Step 3: Binding Off

Have you knitted the desired size? Then you’re ready for the final step: binding off your work. Watch the video to see how to do this.
Have you bound off all the stitches? Then you can cut your yarn.
Congratulations! Your first knitting project is complete!
